Learn Qur'an online with Tajweed, Hifz & Noorani Qaida
Almuallim connects students across the UK with qualified Quran teachers, for one-to-one online classes in Tajweed, Hifz and Qur'an reading — from the comfort of home, scheduled in UK time.
What is Almuallim Online Quran Academy?
A UK-focused online Quran academy built around one-to-one teaching, not group classes.
Almuallim is a one-to-one online Quran academy serving students across the UK. Rather than squeezing children into fixed group schedules, every lesson is built around the individual — their level, their pace, their goals. That means a 5-year-old starting Noorani Qaida has a different experience to an adult returning to Quran reading, even though both are taught by the same standard of qualified, vetted teacher.
- Qualified, vetted teachersEvery tutor is assessed for Tajweed accuracy and teaching ability before joining.
- Structured curriculumNoorani Qaida through to Hifz, with clear milestones at every stage.
- One-to-one online classesEvery lesson is private — no group pacing, no waiting, no falling behind.
- Sisters-only optionFemale tutors available for sisters and young girls who prefer a female-only learning environment.
A learning path, from the first letter to Hifz
Courses are sequenced so every student — child or adult, complete beginner or advanced reader — has a clear next step.
Noorani Qaida
The starting point for absolute beginners: Arabic letters, correct pronunciation (makhraj) and joining letters into words, before moving into the Qur'an itself.
Qur'an Reading with Tajweed
Step-by-step recitation practice with the rules of Tajweed — correct articulation, elongation and pausing — so the Qur'an is read as it was revealed.
Hifz-ul-Qur'an
Structured memorisation with daily revision (murajaʿah), designed around each student's pace, school schedule and long-term retention.
Tafseer & Islamic Studies
Understanding the meaning and context behind the verses, alongside essential Islamic manners, duas and seerah for a rounded Islamic education.
Sisters-Only Classes
Female tutors available for sisters and young girls who prefer a female-only learning environment, covering all courses above.
Adult Quran Classes
Flexible one-to-one lessons for adults returning to Quran reading or starting from scratch — no judgement, just steady progress at your pace.
The virtue of learning and reciting the Qur'an
A few verses that speak directly to why we recite with Tajweed, and why learning the Qur'an holds such a high place.
Key Tajweed rules every beginner should know
| Rule | Arabic | What it means | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ghunnah | غُنَّة | Nasal sound held for 2 counts | إِنَّ (inna) |
| Idgham | إِدْغَام | Merging one letter into another | مِن رَّبِّهِمْ (mir-rabbihim) |
| Ikhfa | إِخْفَاء | Hiding the noon sound before certain letters | أَنْتُمْ (antum) |
| Qalqalah | قَلْقَلَة | Bouncing sound on specific letters at pause | قُلْ (qul) |
| Madd | مَدّ | Elongation of vowel sounds | قَالَ (qaala) |
Listening before reciting
Every Almuallim lesson includes guided listening — the teacher recites the passage, the student repeats it, and corrections happen in real time. Between lessons, students are encouraged to listen to the week's passage before practising aloud, so the ear learns the sound before the tongue has to reproduce it.
"…and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly, giving each letter its due."
Surah Al-Muzzammil 73:4
"We have made the Qur'an easy to remember and take heed from — so is there anyone who will reflect?"
Surah Al-Qamar 54:17
"Those to whom We gave the Book recite it as it truly deserves to be recited."
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:121
"The best among you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it to others."
Hadith — Sahih al-Bukhari

Teaching Quran students across every major UK city
All classes are held online, so where you live in the UK never gets in the way of a qualified, one-to-one Quran teacher.
Our online Quran classes in London run on UK time, so families in East London, Croydon and Ilford can fit lessons around school pick-up. We also teach Quran classes in Birmingham (Small Heath, Sparkbrook, Handsworth), Quran classes in Manchester (Rusholme, Whalley Range, Didsbury) and Quran classes in Glasgow, Leeds and Liverpool. Built for the way UK families actually learn
Almuallim began with a simple frustration: UK Muslim families kept telling us the same thing — Quran classes that fit real life were almost impossible to find. Group classes rushed the slower learners, dragged for the faster ones, and rarely fitted around school pickups, work shifts and evening routines.
So we built the academy we wished existed. One-to-one from day one. UK-time scheduling. Teachers accountable for real progress, not just attendance. And a curriculum that treats every student as an individual, whether they're five or fifty.
- UK-timezone schedulingMorning, after-school and evening slots that work around British routines.
- Progress you can seeRegular feedback so parents know exactly how their child is progressing.
- Free trial classTry a class before committing, with no pressure to continue.
- No long-term contractsFlexible monthly arrangements — pause or stop whenever it suits your family.
